Move to the groove

The hustle and bustle of a metropolitan lifestyle makes fitness a necessity rather than luxury. That’s what Deepak Lalvani, founder of Group Fitness Experience (GFX) in Business Bay, stands up for. Lalvani says city life doesn’t leave anyone truly alone, whether in a Metro or inside an open-plan office. This has led him to believe that humans perform better together, which is what GFX is all about.

Lethargy and monotony are two things he strives to eradicate with the boutique gym’s zealous assortment of group workouts. Options include everything from dance and yoga to more hardcore exercise. There are also capoeira classes for adults and children, karate for kids, hula hoop dance classes, zumba dance workouts for adults and children, ballet for children, hatha yoga and power yoga.

Conveniently located close to a Metro station, the gym also provides advanced fitness experiences like the 4D Pro Les Mills series. This includes BodyAttack, BodyStep, BodyPump, BodyVive, BodyBalance, CRWorx and BodyCombat.

“We have been in the fitness industry for over a decade and have discovered what works and what does not when it comes to an individual’s fitness goals,” says Lalvani. “We have designed group exercise classes that are far from monotonous and continuously challenge a member’s fitness levels and goals. Our certified exercise instructors are here to ensure that.”

He says the crown jewel of 1,500-sq-ft gym is the state of-the-art equipment from Les Mills International, the world’s largest distributor of group fitness equipment. The kit at GFX includes a collection of Smart Bars, Smart Weights and Smart Steps. In addition to professional equipment from New Zealand, GFX taps into the science of colour psychology.

The property is splashed with energising hues of orange and purple that ensure a motivating workout experience. The décor also features elements of blue for occasional moments of relaxation. Music is played throughout sessions to keep participants pumped up.

“We give our members the best group exercise experience,” says Lalvani. “This has resulted in us witnessing remarkable transformations in the past 15 months from both our regular and new members. These individuals have lost weight, improved self-confidence and are maintaining excellent health.”

While it offers a sterling workout experience, the gym doesn’t come equipped with a smoothie or juice bar. But it offers yoga and meditation sessions for members who want to cool down.

As Lalvani professes, GFX is a place where calories are burned and happiness is earned.
