The UAE retail sector is growing rapidly for the country to become the ultimate shopping and entertainment destination of the world. New mall and lifestyle projects across the emirates intend to welcome visitors and residents alike with unlimited fun, excitement and surprises for a unique experience.
Dubai residents can look forward to another lifestyle destination in the Al Wasl and Jumeirah area when Boxpark opens. It will have retail shops, dining options and entertainment outlets.
The temperature-controlled pedestrian city, Mall of the World, will be constructed along Shaikh Zayed Road on the first quarter of this year. Aside from a mall, the entire development will also have the largest indoor park, wellness resorts, cultural theaters and hotels.
Phase one of City Centre Me’aisem, located in the International Media Production Zone (IMPZ), is set to open on the third quarter of this year. It will feature 60 international outlets that include a Carrefour hypermarket, a family entertainment center and walk-in clinics.
Opening in 2016, Nakheel Mall and The Pointe in Palm Jumeirah are overall package destinations for shopping, dining and entertainment. Both will host several retail shops, a cinema and other lifestyle options.
Meanwhile, in Abu Dhabi, the Reem Mall on Reem Island will start construction this year and is expected to open in 2018. It will feature a wide range of shops, and leisure and dining outlets.
On the neighboring island of Al Maryah will rise Al Maryah Central, scheduled to open in 2018. With the growing demand for retail and food and beverage brands, development plans for al fresco cafés, bistros and shops that will answer the needs of locals and tourists are in place. An outdoor ampitheater will be one of the interesting features of the mall, which will be anchored by US department store Macy’s.
