Tecom Investments will be adding an extra 2 million square feet of commercial space within its free zone by year end including the 11 buildings at Dubai Design District. There will also be three new commercial properties at International Media Production Zone (IMPZ).
Meanwhile, the 1.8 million square feet “Innovation Hub” — at the heart of Dubai Internet and Media cities and Knowledge Village — is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2017.
“Our upcoming developments will be fully fledged communities with the objective of enabling business growth and championing creativity and innovation,” said Dr Amina Al Rustamani, Group CEO, Tecom Investments.
The developer will also take on a new branding — Tecom Group — to “better describe the organisation’s diverse portfolio of projects and investments”, it said in a statement. “Our new brand symbolises our diversified portfolio of projects and our deep focus on realising Dubai’s economic aspirations,” said Dr Al Rustamani.
Tecom Investments currently has a tenant base of 4,650 companies and a workforce of 74,000.
The Dubai Design District’s Creative Community will provide an incubator for emerging local designers and artists, as well as a “home for art galleries and studios looking to engage directly with the region”. That is to open in 2018.
