Cisco will showcase its Smart and Connected Communities (S+CC) technology solutions during Gitex Technology Week at the Dubai World Trade Centre from October 12-16. The company said the technology solutions align with the smart city goals of Dubai.
Under the theme Internet of Everything (IoE), Cisco will present solutions under the sub-themes Smart+Connected Communities, Smart Government and Smart Tourism and Hospitality. Cisco's stand will also feature an area for its strategic partners.
"Our return to Gitex Technology Week, coupled with our focus around smart and connected communities, not only demonstrates Cisco's commitment to the Smart Dubai vision, but also to the UAE and the Middle East region as a whole," said Rabih Dabboussi, General Manager of Cisco UAE.
The company said its smart city solutions can help lower costs, improve productivity, increase revenue and improve benefits to citizens. Cisco also predicts the IoE will create $19 trillion (Dh69.78 trillion) in value globally, with around $4.6 trillion in the public sector.
Cities alone can achieve $1.9 trillion in value through initiatives such as smart buildings, smart gas and water monitoring, smart parking and smart waste management, the company said.
"The IoE will have a profound impact on the UAE, particularly as it seeks to deliver on initiatives such as Dubai Smart City and the World Expo 2020," said Dabboussi "By leveraging our experience and expertise with many of the world's leading smart cities, the UAE and other Middle East countries will be able to transform the daily lives of citizens and businesses and set the benchmark in the global marketplace,"
Cisco will also unveil new research on security behaviours and trends in the UAE workplace and the latest security solutions from Cisco during Gitex.
