There are a vast number of free zones in the UAE. They provide ample opportunities for successful companies to expand their business here and fledgling companies to take off.
The free zones in the different emirates were created to cater to specific industries, offering modern solutions that meet client requirements. One of these free zones is the Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone (RAK FTZ).
Ever since it was established in 2000, RAK FTZ has become a popular choice among regional and international investors looking for affordable business infrastructure.
Here, businesses have the option of setting up as a free zone company (FZC), free zone establishment (FZE), branch of a foreign company, or branch of a local company. The free zone offers four types of business licences: industrial, commercial, consultancy or services, and educational.
RAK FTZ is now home to more than 8,000 companies which represent approximately more than 50 industries. It has a Business Park which has corporate and business offices, an Industrial Park for heavy manufacturing and industrial activities, a Technology Park for light manufacturing and trading activities, and an Academic Zone for educational establishments.
It provides businesses with flexi desks, flexi offices, fully furnished office space, business centres, executive offices, shell and core offices, warehouses and industrial land.
The free zone’s proximity to Dubai is a huge advantage as it is just about an hour’s drive away. Port Saqr is also located nearby for the clients’ logistical needs. Clients also enjoy the usual free zone benefits.
One important thing to note is that companies that are registered in the different free zones are not eligible to conduct business in the general UAE market; otherwise, they have to appoint an agent or distributor should they wish to do so.
• RAK FTZ offers offices, warehouses, business centres and land
• It issues industrial, commercial, consultancy, educational licences
