Do you fancy taking a tour around Europe to view the collections at famous museums? Well, they are coming to you in Abu Dhabi. The Louvre Abu Dhabi is scheduled to open later this year and the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi will be inaugurated in 2017.

Yas Island continues to be Abu Dhabi’s most popular tourist destination. With the Yas Marina Circuit, Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld and Yas Mall, Yas Island has it all.

Whether you choose the Hilton, InterContinental, Sheraton or Hyatt, luxurious hospitality in Abu Dhabi is just a reservation away. This year, demand in the emirate’s hotel industry outpaced supply. The industry noted an increase in annual daily rates of almost 12 percent, a first since 2010. Though the occupancy levels fell up to almost 9 percent this summer due to the heat and also due to Ramadan, the good news is that more than 3,000 hotel rooms are set to be added to the city’s burgeoning supply. One of the main attractions of 2015 will be the opening of the Bab Al Qasr Hotel which will have 667 rooms, a private access to the beach and a beautiful view of the Emirates Palace.

Abu Dhabi is also positioning itself as a cruise destination. The new cruise terminal building at Zayed Port is scheduled for completion by the end of this year. Equipped with world-class infrastructure, it will have a handling capacity of 2,500 passengers and three ships simultaneously. The Royal Caribbean is likely to base one of its celebrity cruise ships at the port in 2016-2017; talks are ongoing for the same. The Abu Dhabi Ports Company, which manages the Zayed Port, is keen to associate with famous cruise lines to use it as their port of call and main base.

The Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) constantly strives to promote the emirate’s heritage and traditions and showcase them to the world. It says nothing is too far away and one can even combine a few different experiences in a single day. One can have breakfast on Sir Bani Yas Island, jet into the city for some retail therapy after a few hours and relax on the Corniche beach when the sun goes down.

Handy Hints
• Yas Island has become capital’s popular destination for tourists
