A breaking ground ceremony and press conference were held on December 9 for Omniyat Group's Anwa development at Dubai Maritime City.
Anwa will be designed to recreate the glory days of trans-ocean cruising, and reflect the art deco era of the 1920s and 1930s. Providing 225 units made up of studios, one-, two- and three bedroom apartments, a penthouse and five town houses, the building will also boast 8,133 sq ft of retail space.
Dignitaries and media gathered for the event, which was conducted by Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of Dubai Maritime City, and Mahdi Amjad, Omniyat Group's Executive Chairman and CEO, along with other senior officials.
Buamim said, ''We are delighted to take part in the ceremony to break ground on Anwa by Omniyat. This project will play a key role in positioning Dubai Maritime City as an ideal location for modern living with a perfect work-life balance.
''Anwa will be a key part of Dubai Maritime City, offering an ideal experience of living by the sea.'' This is more so because with Dubai Maritime City based towards the east of Dubai, between Port Rashid and Dubai Dry Docks, it is expected to become a popular location in the future.
Speaking at the event, Amjad said, ''We've designed Anwa for those with exquisite taste and who aspire for ultimate elegance and exclusive living. Interest has been phenomenal and we are very excited about the launch. Omniyat is not only developing a dynamic, sea-facing zone, but also introducing a new experience in opulence, distinguished by standout elevation and lavish interiors.''
A new bridge will connect Bur Dubai to the Dubai Maritime City business district and a tram line will link the area. ''We are pleased to announce that all basic infrastructure, including Dewa substations, are complete,'' said Buamim.
