Nakheel has announced a new 72,000 sqft retail development to be built at its Badrah community in Dubai. The developer has awarded a Dh35-million contract to Dubai based Convrgnt Value Engineering to build the Badrah Pavilion, which will serve nearly 800 homes in Nakheel's Badrah and Veneto communities.
Badrah Pavilion is the sixth neighbourhood retail centre by Nakheel. It will feature 25 outlets, including a supermarket, shops, services, cafes and restaurants, and a gymnasium. The Badrah community has almost 600 town houses and apartments spread across eight low rise buildings.
The residential units are now being handed over.
Earlier this year, Nakheel opened its first pavilion in Jumeirah Park, followed by a retail complex in Discovery Gardens. The developer is also building community centres in Al Furjan, Jumeirah Islands and International City.
''Nakheel pavilions enhance our communities by providing convenient shopping facilities and a place to meet, dine and Socialise,'' said a Nakheel spokesman. ''There has been a great response to our first two and we look forward to opening more.''
The company is also building large-scale malls on the Palm Jumeirah, Deira Islands and Jumeirah Village, and expanding its existing malls. Combined, these will add 6.1 million sqft to Nakheel's existing retail leasing offering.
