Nakheel grows its portfolio

Jumeirah Park Pavilion - the first new project to be completed by Nakheel post-restructuring - is a 10,600-square-metre retail and dining facility. It has 28 shops and cafes including a Geant Easy supermarket.

Such neighbourhood developments are just one element of Nakheel's growing retail portfolio. The company is also building large-scale malls at Palm Jumeirah, Deira Islands and Jumeirah Village, and expanding Dragon Mart and Ibn Battuta Mall.

The company has announced plans to build a new residential complex as well with 130 apartments for lease on Palm Jumeirah. The developer has awarded a contract worth almost Dh75 million to UAE-based Trojan General Contracting to construct the 12-storey building, which will be located on Palm Jumeirah's central trunk, and directly linked to the upcoming Nakheel Mall via a pedestrian walkway. Construction is expected to begin before the end of the year and completed by mid-2016.
