Launched at Cityscape

A number of projects were launched or showcased for the first time at last week’s Cityscape Global. PW takes a look at some of them.

Dubai’s top developers were again on hand with splendid showcases of new projects, although glaringly absent were launches of grandiose master developments.

Nakheel announced The Palm Promenade, which will transform the entire 1.5km trunk of Palm Jumeirah into a walkable beach, park, retail and café complex. The project will build new walkways and road crossings connecting the area’s 30 apartment buildings with Al Ittihad Park, Palm West Beach and other amenities on the island. Nakheel also announced Jebel Ali Gardens, a community project that will comprise nearly 10,000 apartments in 42 buildings.

The developer’s other big news at the real expo were a partnership with Thailand’s Minor Hotel Group (MHG) for 500-room Avani beachfront resort on Deira Islands, and a second management agreement with UK-based Premier Inn for a 250-room hotel in Dragon City.

Promising projects

Emaar Properties launched the Creekside 18 residences in The Island District of Dubai Creek Harbour. It will have around 480 glassfronted residential units comprising one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments in two 37-storey towers.

Damac introduced the world’s first Bugatti-styledhomes at the exhibition. The limited edition collection called Ettore 971 Bugatti Styled Villas will be located in Akoya Oxygen, overlooking the Tiger Woods-designed Trump World Golf Club. Damac also launched Merano Tower, an Italianinspired luxury development overlooking the Dubai Canal, and Viridis, a four-tower project in Akoya Oxygen.

DMCC unveiled its conceptual master plan for the Burj2020 District, which will become the new centrepiece building in Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT). The project will have a built-up area of over one million sq m, equivalent to around one-third of JLT’s area. DMCC also opened leasing on One JLT, which will be ready for occupation in November.

Dubai Properties unveiled a new luxury development, 1/JBR located in Jumeirah Beach Residence. The project will have twoto four-bedroom apartments and five-bedroom penthouses with glass façades and wide sundecks. Delivery is expected in early 2019.

Dubai South said it will start sales of The Villages, an urban community  project, early next year. Development of the first village will also begin next year and is scheduled for completion in 2019. According to the developer, the project concept aims to reinvent the urban ecosystem by creating a city that is based on the happiness and wellbeing of people, in line with the overarching theme of the Dubai Plan 2021.

Al Habtoor Group presented The Residence Collection, a luxury residential project at Al Habtoor City on Shaikh Zayed Road. This will  onsist of 1,460 apartments ranging from one- to fourbedders in addition to loftstyle units, simplex penthouses, duplex penthouses and VIP penthouses spread over four floors. Progress on the Dubai Water Canal development, a joint venture by the Roads and Transport Authority, Meydan City Corporation and Meraas, was highlighted at the exhibition. The 2.9km Canal connecting Business Bay to the Arabian Gulf will include the Crystal Lagoons, which will comprise two residential towers featuring town houses with private gardens facing Safa Park on the ground floor, and a mix of one-, two- and  threebedroom apartments, twostorey sky villas and threestorey penthouses.

Tanmiyat Global launched the Skyline Towers, a twin-tower project in Dubailand. Set for completion in 2018, the project spans 34 floors and will become Dubailand’s tallest structure. It will have 750 residential and hotel apartments.

Northern attractions

Up north, Sharjah Oasis Real Estate Development officially launched the Sharjah Waterfront City. The project is spread across 36km of coastline with a total area of 60 million sq ft.

In Ajman, Al Zorah Development Company unveiled two new communities collectively worth Dh1.5 billion within the Al Zorah development. The Golf Estates gated community is a combination of villas, town houses and apartments set on the 18- hole Nicklaus Design Golf Course, while Al Zorah Beach Residences comprises chaletstyle villas and apartments in The Shores district, which will be the country’s first residential property on the beach right next to a golf course.

In Abu Dhabi, Bloom Properties presented Soho Square, a mixed-use urban development that features residential, retail and commercial space on Saadiyat Island.

RAK Properties signed a Hotel Management Agreement with MinorHotel Group to operate the Anantara Mina Al Arab Ras Al Khaimah Resort, an eco-themed waterfront resort in Mina Al Arab, Ras Al Khaimah.
