The Dubai Tram is the latest mode of public transport to hit Dubai. It promises to be a faster, more reliable and even more environment-friendly way to get around town. Currently, it is undergoing test runs in the zones covered by its routes.
This additional new mode of transport will enable enhanced connectivity for residents of Dubai and, therefore, spark broader investments. Residential properties along the Dubai Marina area have already reported an increase in sales and rental prices. Commercial units and retail space along its routes are also forecast to increase in value. As it will connect key retail sectors and business areas, it is also, therefore, expected to attract new businesses in and around these areas in the near future.
Facilitating the Dubai Government’s aim to improve its transportation infrastructure, in addition to the already popular Dubai Metro, the Dubai Tram is expected to effectively serve the New Dubai areas, especially the heavily populated ones. Once it begins its operations, it is expected to decrease the flow of traffic around these areas, and provide residents with easy connectivity to the business districts.
The Dubai Tram routes will coverAl Sufouh, Jumeirah Beach Residence 1 and 2, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Dubai Marina Mall, Dubai Marina, Marina Towers, Mina Seyahi, Dubai Media City, Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Knowledge Village.
It will intersect with the Dubai Metro at two stations – Jumeirah Lakes Towers and Dubai Marina – delivering hassle-free commuting for all: residents, employees, visitors and tourists alike. The tram will also be linked to the Palm Jumeirah Monorail.
The tram is said to have well-appointed interiors and is equipped with a modern information display system. It also aims to be wheelchair friendly, adding designated wheelchair passenger areas.
• The tram will be linked to two metro stations and Palm monorail
• Like the Metro, It will have carriages reserved for women, children
• It will give everyone easy accessibility to key business districts
