Dubai Parks and Resorts, a Meraas Holding company, announced details of the region's first Bollywood Parks Dubai, a first-of-its kind entertainment destination to showcase authentic Indian movie experience in an interactive format.
Located in Jebel Ali, Bollywood Parks Dubai will cover 3 million sq ft. The destination will host 16 rides and attractions, within five movie-themed areas featuring content developed in partnership with Mumbai's major film studios — Bollywood Film Studios, Mumbai Chowk, Hall Of Heroes, Regal Plaza and Rustic Ravine.
The experience will kick off at the entrance to the theme park on Bollywood Boulevard that will have ongoing live entertainment fixture combining dance performances, character interactions and street theatre.
In addition to the themed zones, Bollywood Parks Dubai will offer retail outlets and themed restaurants.
Raed Al Nuaimi, CEO of Dubai Parks and Resorts, said: ''The cultural impact and appeal of Bollywood is universal with a global fan base of more than 3 billion. For the first time ever, a theme park in the region will recreate for residents and tourists the unparalleled glamour and extravagance of Bollywood on one stage.''
Meanwhile, construction of the Polynesian-themed Lapita Hotel commenced in February, with the opening scheduled for 2016.
The 503-key family hotel will form part of the Autograph Collection, an exclusive ensemble of independent luxury hotels within the Marriott International brand portfolio. Lapita takes its name from the pre-historic Pacific Ocean people who were considered nautical experts and ancestors of the Polynesian race.
In addition to Lapita Hotel and Bollywood Parks Dubai, Dubai Parks will consist of Legoland Dubai and Motiongate Dubai.
