Nakheel evaluating bids for Jumeirah Islands and Pointe at Palm Jumeirah
Nakheel has announced that the company is evaluating bids for the construction of its Jumeirah Islands Townhouses and Park, and will award the contract by the end of January 2014.
The project consists of 84 townhouses and a 608,000 square feet waterfront community recreational area. The four-bedroom homes will be set in a gated community among lush gardens and greenery with a central swimming pool.
Jumeirah Islands Park will provide a new leisure, dining and shopping hub for Jumeirah Islands and surrounding areas. The project comprises extensive communal parkland and a community centre with 10 retail outlets including a supermarket, four food and beverage outlets, a fitness centre, sports courts, jogging track and ample parking. Construction of the townhouses, park and recreation centre is expected to be completed within two years after awarding the contract.
Meanwhile, Nakheel has also received construction bids for The Pointe, its 136,000 square metre retail and entertainment complex on Palm Jumeirah. The company has started the evaluation process with the contract due to be awarded within the
first quarter of 2014.
Earlier this year, Nakheel awarded a contract for ground improvement work at the site of The Pointe. The job, which included vibrocompaction, topographic survey and factual site investigation, is now complete.
The Pointe at Palm Jumeirah will be located at the tip of The Palm, opposite Atlantis. Leasing will commence next month with the project featuring over 200 retail opportunities with a diverse range of shopping, dining and entertainment facilities.
