With Dubai’s luxury fashion and design sectors on the brink of dramatic growth and the Expo 2020 fever continuing to sweep the country, the emirate’s pioneering Dubai Design District (d3), which was announced last year, is poised to become a key player in the city’s future as a global creative center.
Situated within close proximity to Business Bay, The Dubai Mall, Dubai International Airport and similar industry clusters such as the Dubai Financial Centre and Dubai Media City, d3 is already capturing the imagination of creative minds from across the globe.
The Phase 1 of the development, expected to cost around Dh4 billion, includes an array of offices and workshop spaces located within what will become the district’s “core” 10 buildings. These will be positioned among a blueprint of shaded walkways strewn with contemporary installations.
Set upon a kilometer-long waterfront, with stunning views across the city, towards Downtown Dubai and the Burj Khalifa, d3 will also house a convention center, and international and boutique hotels alongside food and beverage, retail and entertainment outlets, and residential developments.
Collaborating with international educational institutes such as the London College of Fashion, d3 is also positioning itself as a future nucleus for the world’s next generation of aspiring artists and designers.
Many creative spaces have already been allocated to a diverse range of cutting-edge fashion, interior, architectural, graphic and digital design outfits. According to development representatives, interest in the project has been unprecedented, so it seems that now is the time to act if you want your business to be at the heart of design innovation in Dubai.
