The UAE government has developed several housing projects exclusively for Emiratis in a bid to provide every family a decent home. These projects feature energy-efficient designs with a hint of traditional style. Taking the lead in the realization of the housing program is Abu Dhabi.
The Al Falah master planned community, located on the eastern side of the Abu Dhabi International Airport, covers an approximate area of 12.5 million square meters. The community is divided into five villages with villas that range from three to five-bedroom units. It also has a massive market area, mosque, shops and offices.
Located close to the Abu Dhabi Golf Club and the Al Raha Beach area, in Khalifa City A, is Watani. The development features a wide range of villa and apartment options. The villas, which come in four and five-bedrooms, will be built in seven different designs. Like other residential projects, its amenities will include malls, retail outlets, mosques, schools, medical centers, clinics and many sporting facilities.
The western end of the capital has opened its doors to the Al Sila’a development which boasts approximately 448 villas inclusive of various retail outlets, a mosque, school, and women’s center. Like other housing programs for UAE nationals, this one will be built according to the Estidama standards.
The Al Ghuraibah community in Al Ain, with the famous Hafeet Mountains within its midst, will comprise approximately 1,022 villas, which will also be built to Estidama standards. It will have two sectors – the East and the West – and include a range of amenities like mosques and retail outlets.
Also in Al Ain is the Sheibat Al Watah, which will offer 1,500 villas and modern conveniences like retail centers, schools and mosques.
The northern emirates, especially Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah, have also undertaken housing programs for Emiratis. These are located in Khor Fakkan, Dibba Al Hisn and Ohla in Fujairah, and Geir in Ras Al Khaimah.
In Dubai, housing developments for Emiratis include the one in the Al Quoz 2 area that provides two to four-bedroom units.
• Most of the housing projects for Emiratis adopt sustainable building designs
• Watani, Al Falah, Al Sila’a, Al Ghuraibah and Sheibat Al Watah are in the capital
• Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Dubai also have housing projects for Emiratis
