Dubai Design District (d3), a free zone business park developed by Tecom Investments, has unveiled a road map that includes providing full digital connectivity and intelligent green solutions to support Dubai's ambition to become a smart city.
Dr Amina Al Rostamani, Group CEO of Tecom Investments, announced the master developer's plans after His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid AI Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, recently launched the Smart Dubai strategy.
'''Tecom Investments is proud that Dubai Design District has been entrusted by the government to play a central role in the emirate's ambition to become a Smart City,'' said Dr Al Rostamani ''This exciting greenfield development will provide world class infrastructure that enables our business partners, government authorities, telecommunication companies, and other service providers to implement their initiatives in support of this ambition.
''Once the first phase of d3 is delivered in 2015, it will offer digital connectivity throughout the area, and it will use smart solutions and technologies to enhance people's experience during events, cultural activities, and to ensure accessibility and safety for everyone using the location. Intelligent green solutions will also be applied to the physical buildings so they are more sustainable and reduce energy waste.''
The project consists of ten buildings now under construction. It is designed to cater to the full value chain of the design, fashion and luxury industry.
''We are dedicated to developing a creative destination at d3 that is rooted in cutting-edge, intelligent design,'' said Dr Al Rostamani. ''In doing so, we will contribute to Dubai's vision fm an efficient, modern, seamless and safe city that improves the experience of businesses, residents, tourists and consumers.''
