Abu Dhabi project wins

The Welcome Pavilion and Cascade Dining in Abu Dhabi was among the winners at this year’s Cityscape Awards for Emerging Markets. Developed by Miral, working with the Dubai branch of architects RTKL UK, the project won the award in the Retail — Built category. The project was cited for enhancing the connectivity between Ferrari World and Yas Mall. “Small intervention with a big impact,” according to the judging panel.

The Lusail Sports Arena in Doha, Qatar and The Piers in Muscat, Oman, were the other winners from the GCC.

Meanwhile, Asian designs won eight of the 13 categories for projects in Hong Kong and China, with Aedas taking home five awards.

A total of 37 finalists representing projects from all around the world vied in the annual awards.

Sustainability was a key theme this year, according to organisers.
