Constantly distracted by the sight of cold and empty walls? Fret no more. When it comes to pimping up a bare wall, the possibilities are endless. All you have to do is get your creative juices flowing to infuse them with life and transform any room into a treat for the senses.
Artwork – This can range from paintings to wall sculptures to wall carvings to tapestries. When choosing an artwork, pick one that speaks about your personality and style. You can opt for a lone massive artwork to draw attention to a particular space, or hang multiple items of a similar theme and size. For a pop of colour on a monochromatic wall, consider adding a funky piece.
Photographs – Just like artwork, photographs are a timeless décor that bring interest to any bare space. Decorate according to your chosen theme. You may consider hanging only family portraits, pictures of places that you have visited, nature scenes, or snaps of animals. Remember that framed black and white pictures invoke a sense of calm, nature photos create a Zen-like ambience, while colourful ones bring dynamism to a room.
Shelves – Floating shelves make for easy wall statements. Ensure your colour of choice blends well with the wall paint or material. Either group shelves of similar size, or mix and match shelves in different sizes to create a unique display. You can showcase souvenirs from your travels, succulents in tiny pots, vases and knickknacks. However, carefully choose the items that go on the shelves lest they appear storage for junk.
Mirrors – These are great wall covers that make a room appear larger or taller. You can go classic by featuring a huge piece with an ornate frame, minimalist by creating a wall sculpture using several mirror panels, or stylish by grouping mirrors of different shapes. Either way, you can’t go wrong with these.
Wallpaper – Wallpaper remains a favourite among homeowners. With a broad selection of colours, designs and textures to choose from, there is always something that suits anyone’s taste. It can be used to perk up living and children’s rooms, or even incorporated into a kitchen or bathroom design.
Whatever your wall covering is, ensure all the elements work in correspondence with one another to create a visually appealing statement
