Adjacent to the all-important Shaikh Zayed Road, Satwa is home to almost all nationalities, most especially Asians. It offers affordable residential options that range from apartments to villas in different sizes.

Rental rates for typical apartment units start from Dh45,000 for a studio, Dh52,000 for a one-bedroom, Dh105,000 for a two-bedroom, and Dh111,000 for a three-bedroom. Villa rentals depend on the size, with a three-bedroom renting from Dh158,000.

The locality is a busy market center for just about everything you need, attracting hordes of residents and tourists alike. The bustling Al Bada’a and 2nd December Streets (Al Diyafah) have rows of small shops selling every type of item you can think of. The main Al Satwa Road is a shopping district featuring textiles, household items, food products, plants, and bits and pieces of accessories that are incredibly low-priced.

If you fancy flowers and plants for your living space, a wide spectrum of choices is readily obtainable – from seeds to gardening tools to supplies. Fresh produce are also a few steps away from the plants section. Animal lovers can choose from aquatic to furry pets from the different pet stores in the area.

Satwa is dotted with tailoring shops where residents can get their clothes tailored, altered or stitched at flexible prices. If your heel breaks or soles run thin from gallivanting, there is a shoe repair shop nearby. Otherwise, diverse services like battery and strap replacement for old and broken watches come in handy with artisans around, along with shops that fix bags, purses, jewelry and electronic equipment of any sort. Locksmiths are also aplenty in the zone.

Satwa is also a fun place for dining. Whet your appetite with Asian, Chinese, Indian, Korean or Arabic cuisine, and dine al fresco by the road in fairly inexpensive restaurants and cafes. This area is also replete with supermarkets like Al Maya, New Era, Spring, Quezon City and West Zone, and salons that offer services at attractive packages.

With its heady mix of culture and activities, Satwa does have a constant buzzing atmosphere.
