Finding paw-friendly neighborhoods in Dubai is a bit of a challenge as majority of the residential areas are off-limits to animals. Still, some developers have created doggie playgrounds in several residential communities for residents with pets.
The gated community of Arabian Ranches consists of freehold townhouses and villas with spacious gardens that are ideal for animals to play, and open balconies for cat lovers. One safety feature developers had in mind during the planning stage are the properties' high garden walls for pet safety.
The Green Community in Dubai Investments Park (DIP) is considered one of the most pet-friendly residential communities in the emirate. It has shaded walkways for pooches to walk comfortably, pet shops and clinics, an exclusive pet park and a seven-star pet hotel for boarding and grooming.
Just off the Emirates Golf Club, residents of The Greens and The Views can take advantage of the shaded walking paths and parks, but are suggested to keep their animals on a leash at all times. Villas and three-bedroom ground-floor apartments have big balconies or gardens for animals to be kept safe. The area also has a grocery store that supplies pet products.
Jumeirah Lakes Towers' pet-friendly neighborhood allows pet owners to walk their dogs around the lakes. Kids with small pups can enjoy the patches of greenery while parents take a relaxing break in one of the cafes in the district since most of the dining outlets have outside seating areas for furry pals.
Mirdif has residential blocks that are open to family pets; however, landlords reserve the right to allow boarding of pets or not. The residential community has ample walk paths, pet shops and clinics, too.
Emirates Living has really prepared to welcome residents with pets as the community walkways, especially in The Springs and The Meadows, have been lined with bins for dog and cat wastes, a pet-sitting center was built along with pet grocery shops and a veterinary hospital. Gyms, swimming pool areas and other sports facilities are, however, off-limits to pets.
