Motor City: A residential haven away from city traffic

MotorCity is located off Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, diagonally opposite Arabian Ranches. Life in this locality is a far cry from the hustle and bustle of city life, yet complete with the infrastructure of a modern development.

Anurag Sinha, who works as Executive Sous Chef at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in DIFC, moved to Widcombe House 3 in MotorCity three years back. His wife, Monika, works as a schoolteacher in The Gardens and kids Aaditya and Anshika are students in the same school where Monika teaches.

For Anurag, it was love at first sight when he visited MotorCity and decided to make it his home. He says it is one of the best gated communities he has ever seen in Dubai with round-the-clock security and ample parking space, coupled with a clean and pleasing landscape.

It is also complete with all the basic amenities that are so indispensable to a residential locality – restaurants, shopping area, clinic, parks, among others. A variety of entertainment options, like the Dubai Autodrome and Kartdrome, adds a unique dimension to the community. With the Global Village and the Dubai Miracle Garden lying in its immediate neighborhood, the area is in no way short of entertainment options for all ages.

Other salient features, like sleek maintenance and beautifully landscaped gardens, lend a pleasing charm to the development that can be compared to an English spa town.

The Sinhas, who were earlier residents of Bur Dubai, find MotorCity a residential haven away from the business of the city. Having grown up in Bokaro in eastern India, Anurag prefers to stay in a place away from chaotic and crowded places. He says, “The locality is quite well-developed with low-rise buildings featuring modern European-style architecture. The area is very green and clean, in contrast to Bur Dubai, which is rather crowded and congested.

MotorCity houses plenty of options for its residents to take to the great outdoors. With their shift to the area, the Sinha family has taken to a much fitter and outdoorsy lifestyle. Anurag says, “The presence of jogging tracks has made me initiate a jogging regime. There are also good outdoor activities for kids like swimming and cycling. As a result, my kids spend less time on television and video games. Monika also enjoys strolling in the park area.”

MotorCity may lie on the fringes of the city, yet it enjoys a superb connectivity with the major places of Dubai. “Commuting to our respective workplaces seems like a breeze as it takes me hardly 20 to 25 minutes to reach to my workplace in DIFC, and it takes about 20 minutes for Monika and the kids to reach their school,” explains Anurag.

Commenting on the safety factor of the locality, Anurag is quite satisfied that the area is safe for kids to play outside as all the roads have speed breakers and that there is no unwanted traffic coming to the community.

The Sinhas, thus, have several reasons to be happy about their community. “Our building comes with a spacious and well-designed common area. The basement parking is quite airy and well-lit. The fact that all the buildings need access key for entry and that no vendors are allowed in the community without prior permission renders additional security to the residents. The apartments come with a balcony that offers additional space and advantage.”

Anurag concludes that he is a happy resident of MotorCity and would prefer to stay in the place as long as he can. His sentiment is echoed by his wife and children.
