Chandresh and Dipali Sanghvi have been residents of Al Sidir in The Greens for the past four years. Chandresh works as Finance Manager with International Tanker Management Ltd. while Dipali is a full-time homemaker. Their sons, Shubham and Soham, are students of GEMS Modern Academy.
The primary reason behind the family's shift to The Greens from Bur Dubai was to save on Chandresh's commuting time to his office in Tecom. ''As our search for a new residence began, we saw a few surrounding localities, but The Greens was something that clicked with us instantly. The houses in the locality have good views with lots of sunlight, beautiful parks and play areas.
''The pleasant feel of the locality, which combines old-village charm with modern facilities, was, of course, a contributory factor to our decision. The area is relatively quiet, free from traffic and safe with round-the-clock security,'' explains Chandresh.
The apartments in The Greens are set in modern buildings encompassing private courtyards. Each complex has its own entrance lobby, secure underground parking, gymnasium, swimming pool, basketball court, children's play area and shared barbecue facilities. Most of the complexes feature four individual buildings clustered together to create an exclusive courtyard environment for the residents.
The Sanghvis say that their current residence is a well-rounded option compared with the one in the busy hub of Bur Dubai. ''The locality has a lake surrounded by parks, and the roads are much wider and quieter. All the facilities in the community are well maintained by the developer which makes it a superb locality to live in,'' says Chandresh.
The family has taken to a fitter lifestyle with the availability of a gym, swimming pool and walking areas at their doorstep while the children are regular visitors to the play area.
Another convenience factor is that the development is easily accessible as it has a bus station. The Dubai Internet City Metro Station is also located at just a 10-minute walking distance.
Chandresh reckons that The Greens offers community style living, giving everyone a good platform to mingle with the different members of the community. ''Consequently, there is greater interaction among the residents which is evident in the fact that people love to celebrate festivals jointly. The developer can be credited with the establishment of a senior citizens group and the promotion of various social and sports activities at regular intervals.''
The locality is open and expansive with green streetscapes and water fountains at each intersection. It also features parks with a huge lake full of fish and migratory birds (in winter). The developer did a good job by maintaining the locality well.
While the family enjoys the perks of a good lifestyle, The Greens does miss providing its residents with easy accessibility to food and household stuff that are very convenient in Bur Dubai. Dipali feels that the restaurant options in the area are limited. Groceries, domestic help and other services are relatively more expensive, too.
''The addition of a small shopping mall serving a wide range of household accessories and a variety of dining choices would further enhance the quality of life in the locality and add to its self-sustainability factor,'' concludes Chandresh.
