So who hasn't heard of Dubai Marina? Whether you're a newcomer, an old resident, or just passing through, chances are you've heard of one of Dubai's prime waterfront developments still considered among the most desirable places to live in the UAE.
With two dedicated metro stations plying the area and soon, the Dubai Tram, Dubai Marina is strategically located, close to other key areas of Dubai like Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT), Dubai Media City, Dubai Internet City and Palm Jumeirah, and major malls like its very own Dubai Marina Mall, Mall of the Emirates and Ibn Battuta Mall. It is also the district where the famous Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) and The Walk-JBR are located.
The Marina Walk is a busy strip lined with cafés, restaurants, retail outlets and more, catering to the needs and wants of yuppies, young couples and families, aside from travelers and tourists. It's also a place that's great for daily runs, leisurely walks and simply people-watching.
For the true blue urbanite, Dubai Marina lacks for nothing whether one is after daytime or nighttime haunts. With several top hotels like The Address, Salalah Rotana and Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel & Suites located in the area, and a number of evening joints all over the district, weekend drops at any of its upscale nightspots is a definite possibility.
With the sun, sand and sea package quite literally at one's doorstep, keeping fit or simply enjoying water sports and activities on your own or with family and friends is a no-brainer.
Having lived in Dubai all his life, choosing to live in Dubai Marina was a simple decision for Tarek (last name withheld upon request) who works as an art director. Tarek lives in Sulafa Tower with his full-time homemaker Bohdana (his 'queen'), their three beautiful daughters (he calls them 'princesses') Katrin, Layal and Salma, and their cute tabby named Delila.
According to Tarek, they enjoy daily views of the sea, Burj Al Arab and Shaikh Zayed Road from their apartment. Amenities at Sulafa Tower, one of the tallest residential buildings in Dubai Marina, include built-in wardrobes, central air conditioning, gymnasium, pool, Jacuzzi, sufficient parking space, 24-hour security, a dedicated maintenance team, and state-of-the-art IT services.
In describing the convenience of living in the area, Tarek says, ''We have a mosque, a public park, public transport facilities, restaurants, a shopping mall and plenty of shops nearby. Our kids love it here because, technically, we live close to the beach, and our princesses always enjoy walking around the JBR area, and at Marina Walk. We never run out of things to do so there's never a dull moment of living in this area.''
Tarek also says that since he works in an office along Shaikh Zayed Road, living in Dubai Marina has made it easier and more convenient to drive to and from work. Their daughters, who are all of school going age, study in nearby schools, and dropping them off and picking them up has never been an issue. Bohdana is also quite happy with her easy access to supermarkets, shops and salons.
All in all a great setup, don't you think?
And Tarek says they plan to stay, ''Here, we have a great lifestyle, lead a peaceful life, and wherever work takes me, I know my queen and princesses are always safe and secure.''
