Dubai Marina is definitely one of the city's most chic addresses. Sandwiched between corporate Jumeirah Lake Towers and commercial Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), it houses an army of skyscrapers, one higher than the other, including the world's tallest residential tower — Princess Tower. That wouldn't be the first record this residential district has broken.
If Dubai Marina is your aspirational address and you believe that your dream home is nestled somewhere in its towers, high above bustling streets, here's a quick guide to some of the posh properties that should be on your wish list. Designed with architectural poetry, here are three of the area's most tantalizing towers that cater to only the finest tastes.
Gracefully fusing the organic curves of the desert and ocean, Cayan Tower is a ballerina of a building.
This dramatic construct is the handiwork of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the masterminds behind the Burj Khalifa and Chicago's Trump Tower. Cayan Tower has derived its design from the most basic building blocks of life — DNA. The helixshaped structure gradually twists at 90 degrees as one's eyes travel along its spine. This artistic phenomenon proudly holds the world record for the highest twisted skyscraper.
When asked about her aspirations for Cayan Tower, Gizel Daher, Group Marketing and Communications Manager at Cayan Group, says, ''Cayan Tower was designed to be recognised as a landmark in Dubai's skyline. It has received many regional and international awards such as the Meed Quality Award for innovation, Louis Berger Building Project of the Year, International Property Award, Best International Architecture Award, Emporis Skyscraper Award and many others.''
Priced between Dh2,200 and Dh2,800 per square foot, every apartment in Cayan Tower enjoys a fashionably modern design. The interiors are ornamented with marble and wood finishing. The design is specifically formulated to flood the entire space in natural sunlight. The scenic view of the boundless ocean and bustling city can either be enjoyed from the balcony or the building's communal infinity pool. Cayan Tower's penthouse sprawls over a spacious 10,900 sq ft. Its master bedroom is equipped with a personal lounge and balcony, as well as access to a private swimming pool.
The choice location of the tower and its sterling reputation has garnered it a total value of Dh1.2 billion.
Once upon a time, Swarovski was only responsible for furnishing people's jewellery boxes with precision-cut crystal products. Now, the Austrian crystal maker is giving people homes to furnish. Adding a touch of glamour to vacant spaces, Swarovski has been charming the entire property industry. It has already dazzled Dubai Marina's residents with its upcoming project — Sparkle Towers, developed by Tebyan, which collaborated with Swarovski on the project.
Markus Langes-Swarovski, Executive Board Member of the crystal maker, says, ''This is a landmark project that will delight generations to come. We are thrilled to take crystallised luxury to another level in residential interiors and delighted with our partnership with Tebyan.''
Exclusive features such as sparkly lighting solutions and crystal-finished interiors add glamour. The project comprises two buildings that offer amazing views and are linked by a shared podium. Naji Alia, Managing Director of Tebyan, says, ''We've explored several potential branding partners for the project and decided to go with Swarovski. It offers the highest value to the project, investors and future residents, given that it is a leader in crystallized chandeliers, interiors and architecture.''
Studios and apartments from one to three bedrooms will be priced between Dh900,000 and Dh3.3 million. Two four-bedroom duplex penthouses will be available for investors seeking extra sparkle. In addition, all units on the top floor will be offered as Sky Homes. These spaces will offer a pristine view of the Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab. An on-demand limo service will also be just a phone call away. Partial glimpses of the sea and JBR's landscape can be caught through the apartment's window. Sparkle Towers aspires to be another gem in Dubai's glamorous crown and a haven of fine living and luxury. The project will debut next year.
Style is a simple way of saying complicated things, mused the legendary writer and designer Jean Cocteau. Damac Heights embodies the spirit of that quote. Under construction on the last prime plot of land in Dubai Marina, closest to the waterfront, this ambitious tower soars 86 storeys high. Not only will it afford external views of the ocean and Palm Jumeirah but also features refined interiors by Fendi. The lobby will exude flawless Italian taste; all that will be missing is a bowl of Mama's spaghetti. Conceived by award-winning architectural firm Aedas, Damac Heights offers the indulgent lifestyle that Dubai is renowned for.
Niall McLoughlin, Senior Vice-President of Damac, says, ''Damac Residenze [at Damac Heights] will be filled with unique and iconic symbols throughout, such as Italian marble flooring in the common areas, stylish stone countertops, and luxurious baths for the master bedroom, with polished ceramic wall tile surrounds in its connected bathroom.
''The Italian influence will be seen throughout, with Fendi Casa furniture and fittings bringing to life this exclusive residence.''
After stirring together measures of Italian and Arabian culture under one roof, the blueprints for this project were born. Combining the glistening opulence of gold and the elegant minimalism of Italian design will produce a residentially unique experience. Fendi has charmed local and international residents with its seductive palette and Roman craftsmanship. Damac Heights will come with all the trappings of a luxurious lifestyle—riveting water sports, a pulsating nightlife and a gourmet dining district. Prices for the units within Damac Residenze at Damac Heights range from Dh2.36 million to Dh6 million. The project is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of next year.
West Avenue brings a slice of the Big Apple to Dubai Marina. Inspired by 20th century Manhattan architecture, West Avenue sports an art deco structure, which is an influential style that reigned in New York during the roaring 1920s. The decade saw a revolution in morals and manners, while architecture underwent a bold transformation. West Avenue is the work of Dubai Marina's largest private developer, Select Group.
Rahail Aslam, CEO of Select Group, says, ''Dubai Marina is one of the most desirable locations for residential property in the emirate. Located off the Shaikh Zayed Road and JBR, and in close proximity to the commercial areas of Dubai Media City and Internet City, Dubai Marina appeals to both the business and leisure resident.''
West Avenue is 32 floors of bespoke studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments, and premium penthouses. The apartments flaunt a minimalist design with bursts of style in unexpected corners, such as the robust worktops made from granite — so the steep value of Dh1,910 per square foot is unsurprising. Around 95 per cent of units in this Dh678-million tower have been sold.
