The Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) community has a characteristic ambience that translates to absolute comfort, safety and elegance. It has lavish landscaping replete with parks, interconnected courtyards and children's play areas, along with round-the-clock security, daily maintenance and a fully completed road network.
Probably one of the biggest features of DSO are the services of a number of renowned educational institutions, which provide residents with access to internationally recognized schools and universities such as RIT Dubai, GEMS Wellington Academy, The Indian High School, British Orchard Nursery, etc.
The DSO community provides a host of amenities that include shops, supermarkets, retail outlets, banks, a post office, restaurants, cafes and health clinic, community centers, a nursery, school, swimming pools, etc.
With two villa developments: Cedre and Semmer, each with its own community facilities and amenities, DSO provides a high quality lifestyle promising comfort and convenience.
Located at a driving distance of approximately 15 minutes from the Dubai International Airport, Business District, and a 30-minute drive from Jebel Ali Port and Port Rashid, DSO lies at the intersection of the Emirates Road and Dubai-Al Ain Road in the neighborhood of Dubailand and Academic City.
Amarinder Singh, a businessman, and Rupinder Arora, a teacher with an IB curriculum school, and their daughters, Simran and Amrita, and pet Taurus have been staying in DSO for the past four years. Theirs is a twin villa around 4000 square feet that comes with a garden.
''We saw a lot of freehold localities like The Springs, The Meadows, etc. But there was something about DSO that struck a chord with us. When we first saw it in 2009, it was under construction, and people were yet to move in,'' says Rupinder.
''We were looking for a residential haven where we could relax and unwind after a tiring day at work. Being a quiet and peaceful neighborhood, DSO fit our requirements perfectly. A relaxed feeling pervades the atmosphere in our community. Beautiful walkways complement the beauty of the lush, green surroundings.''
''As one of the initial residents, DSO felt quite isolated as it was sparsely populated and we had to drive a lot to go for conveniences. Gradually, as more people started moving in, there was more movement and things became more comfortable,'' explains Rupinder.
The best part is that it feels absolutely nice to drive around the locality in the absence of traffic. Almost all major locations of the city are situated at a maximum driving distance of 20 minutes. A monthly flea market at DSO is another feather in the cap of this residential enclave. The Best Garden Competition is held on an annual basis, and the Aroras have been participating actively in it.
The community is geared up for a slew of further developments. A beautiful pond is coming up. Dh1.1 billion 'Silicon Park' on a 150,000-square-meter spread is slated to be a major development coming up in 2017. The park which will be free of fuel-powered vehicles and instead have only those running on electricity, will be built using green architectural processes and will represent the first integrated ''smart city'' at DSO.
''The community is green, peaceful and convenient. The only negative aspect is that it misses metro connectivity. Though the bus service to the area is frequent, access to The Metro will definitely make life easier,'' adds Rupinder.
