Discovery Gardens is a popular residential neighborhood located in Jebel Ali, close to Ibn Battuta Metro Station.
It is a hub of integrated living divided into six themed districts – each related to elements of nature – Zen, Mediterranean, Contemporary, Mogul, Mesoamerican and Cactus. The cluster of pleasantly-colored buildings features courtyard spaces (outside the buildings) interspersed with lush green landscaping – a lifestyle that offers a host of conveniences to its residents.
The community lies in easy proximity to business locations like Dubai Internet City and Dubai Media City. The calmness and serenity of the place, pleasant landscaping and amenities on offer have enticed an increasing number of people to find their home in this beautiful neighborhood.
The presence of international schools like Delhi Private School and Winchester School is an added advantage in the sense that people have moved to this locality for the proximity it offers in terms of schooling.
The Ibn Battuta Mall is a major landmark for every resident’s shopping and leisure needs. It houses an IMAX theatre, Geant supermarket and numerous brands to give anyone a convenient retail experience. One can also find in the mall as many as 30 restaurants catering to varied cuisines which ensure that for eating out, there are enough options within the community itself.
Hariharan Kuppuswamy, a business owner, and his family moved to the community five years ago. His wife Meghna is a homemaker and his two sons, Aayush and Aarav, study at the Delhi Private School.
The Hariharans, who lived in Deira prior to their move to Mediterranean Cluster, have been happy to discover that their current residential locality offersa far better lifestyle in comparison to Deira.
Discussing the same, Meghna says, “Moving to Discovery Gardens was a wise decision for our family as my husband usually works with clients located in Dubai Media City. Now, he spends less time in traffic compared before (while still in Deira). Apart from this, the Ibn Battuta Mall and the metro station are just a five-minute drive away.”
She adds, “Our children love this location especially the designated kids play area and swimming pool. This place makes it easy to engage them with sports activities and keep them fit and active. This is surely a much better place to live in compared to Deira as it is less crowded and is much greener and cleaner.”
The development is dotted with supermarkets, grocery stores, medical centers, gyms and retail outlets. Its population consists of multicultural people who live in perfect harmony. “Life is more pleasant and peaceful here because of its clean, calm and green environment,” says Meghna.
However, Hariharan says, “There are a few niggles of staying out here, prime-time traffic bottlenecks being one of the major setbacks.”
He adds, “The streets here get rather dark during the evenings; hence, street lighting needs to be improved. It would be better if maintenance is upgraded to lend a spick and span outlook to the neighborhood.”
Apart from these minor hangups, the Hariharans are happy to share that Discovery Gardens is quite close to the concept of an ideal residential locality.
