When raising a family in the UAE, you are probably more hard-pressed to find a place to live that is not family-friendly. The entire country is comparably safe with plenty of amenities and community facilities ideal for both small and large families.
Some communities are more well-known for being more family-friendly than others. Communities such as Arabian Ranches, Emirates Living and the Green Community are popular family-friendly areas in Dubai. Common features that tend to set the benchmark for such communities are elements such as plenty of large open spaces with outdoor amenities like parks, pools and play areas.
Another common thread is the proximity of these communities to good schools. Dubai International Academy, Emirates International School, Jumeirah English Speaking School, Raffles and Greenfield Community School are located nearby or even within these communities.
It is a similar case in Abu Dhabi where family-friendly communities such as Karama are popular due to their proximity to good schools such as the British School Al Khubairat. Karama, as well as other popular family-friendly communities Al Rowdah and Al Mushrif, have convenient access to plenty of shops and supermarkets. Al Wahda Mall's Lulu supermarket is nearby as is Carrefour; however, these communities often have smaller convenience stores within the community as well.
However, the less traditionally themed areas of the UAE are still just as suited to families as they are to couples and singles. Dubai Marina, for example, while extremely popular with singles and couples, has a lot to offer families. With Dubai Marina Mall often holding events ideal for families, Jumeirah Beach Residence and The Walk a short distance away, and ample playgrounds and activities, there is plenty to delight and entertain families.
Downtown areas in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi, again while still being favorites for singles and couples, are still great places for families as these have endless entertainment venues, amenities, good schools and healthcare options for those willing to sacrifice some space and deal with congestion at busier times.
• Abu Dhabi's Karama, Al Rowdah and Al Mushrif are ideal areas for families
• Family-friendly areas in Dubai include Arabian Ranches, Emirates Living, etc.
• Downtown areas are still great for families who are willing to sacrifice space
