Tucked between Khalifa and Electra Streets is one of the busiest streets in the capital – Hamdan. It is a bustling area that is lined with office complexes, residential apartments and almost all the reputed fast food chains.
Hamdan is dotted with government departments like the Ministry of Economy, oil and gas companies, the Arabtec headquarters and so on.
Among the prominent office towers in the area is the Al Ghaith Tower which houses the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange. Another important landmark is the Abu Dhabi Plaza Complex, with a variety of apartment and office space choices. It has two towers: the Hotel Tower operated by Gloria Hotels and the mixed-use tower comprising 18 storeys. The average rent for an office space in Hamdan is Dh150 per square foot.
Having an enviable location in the heart of Hamdan is the Hamdan Center, an age-old institution in the Abu Dhabi shopping scene. Even though it does not look sleek and modern next to its contemporaries, it is a great place to find clothes, leather goods, sports equipment, shoes and souvenirs at low prices. If you wander down the connecting alleyways, you will find tailors, antique shops, imitation fashion wear and a wide range of other exotic stuff. For sportswear enthusiasts, the city’s premier Sun & Sand Sports outlet is also located in the area.
The latest chic shopping destination in Hamdan is the World Trade Center Souk. It is stylishly built based on old Arabic architectural elements, and is filled with restaurants, little shops and retail outlets.
Hamdan is also lined with gold shops which have all the reputed names in the business intermingled with the lesser-known-but-trusted shops. During the festive season, it is literally impossible to find a parking spot in the area due to the rush in these gold shops.
In short, Hamdan offers the best choices in office space, residences and shopping in Abu Dhabi.
• Hamdan is located between Khalifa Street and Electra Street
• It has a plethora of office spaces, residences and retail outlets
• Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange is currently located in Hamdan
Now we go to a relaxed and leisurely life in Abu Dhabi's Al Mushrif
