Imagine a beautiful beachfront ambience, cosmopolitan atmosphere blended with a heady mix of amenities. Welcome to the perfect recipe for a chic, urban lifestyle on the shores of the Arabian Gulf. Welcome to Dubai Marina. With luxury yachts anchored within the vicinity and sophisticated restaurants making a beeline on the shore, Dubai Marina is anything but a destination for people who value style and sophistication to the premium.
Located ins close access to Dubai Internet City and Dubai Media City, the area is one of the pioneering beachfront freehold properties in the emirate. Taking a pleasure walk by the marina, exploring the balmy waters of the sea on a luxurious yacht, or simply chilling out at one of the upscale restaurants on the sidelines, life here is, by all means, a far cry from the city’s monotonous lifestyle.
With the first phase of the Dubai Tram launching this month, Dubai Marina is slated to become more accessible as the tram will be connected to the Palm Monorail and the Dubai Metro, making connec-tivity to the area much smoother.
It is in this popular shoreline community that Anjaan, a Creative Solutions Expert for a popular media company, and wife Amrita Singh, a freelance Bollywood choreographer, shifted to reside two years back.
“My husband and I always wanted to remain connected with nature in some way or the other. Since our apartment complex is just a walk away from Marina Walk, The Walk and the beach, which, of course, gives us enough beach access, we absolutely enjoy this place,” says Amrita. “Dubai Marina has loads of space to walk, jog or go to for a stroll in the evenings and a host of restaurants to choose from, which makes life very convenient. The Choithrams supermarket on the ground floor of our apartment complex makes grocery shopping a piece of cake on a day-to-day basis,” she adds.
Amrita also loves the several entertainment options to indulge in at Dubai Marina. “There are the yachts moored at the marina for an ecstatic ride into the open sea. The fact that Dubai Marina Mall is just a 10-minute walk and The Walk (also with a host of cafes, restaurants and a cinema) just seven minutes away leaves residents spoilt for choice.”
However, she rues the fact that the past year has seen a hotel constructed right next to their apart-ment complex which has entirely blocked the sea view from their balcony.
“We miss the splendid marina views. With the construction of the Dubai Eye, the access to the once-open beach has been totally shut for over a year now. Recently, the road to JBR was blocked for a week and the resultant traffic jam for three to four hours each evening was nothing less than a nightmare!”
Being an ardent animal lover, Amrita is also unhappy with the fact that Marina Walk has been declared a No Pet Walking zone as she said she misses the happy pooches and wagging tails she sees when she goes for walks in the evenings.
Amrita says Dubai Marina is a mini metropolis on the seaside with a huge array of conveniences and amenities. However, she, who has a soft corner for pets, feels that having an animal park in the neigh-borhood will be a major upgrade for the locality.
“After all, seeing the pets (in the apartment complex) play and exercise is a great joy by itself!” she concludes.
