Al Qusais - seat of education and more

A place many people found distant and unfamiliar until residential rents in key central locations in Dubai began to skyrocket, Al Qusais is that large community on the Deira side of the city, lying right next to the neighboring emirate of Sharjah.

However, beyond the relatively more reasonable rental rates usually associated with Al Qusais and neighboring places like Hor Al Anz and Al Twar, the area is also well-known for housing the Dubai Education Zone, Ministry of Labour, Dubai Civil Defence Headquarters, a major Dubai Police station, hypermarkets, hotels, several metro stations and a large industrial area.

While Al Qusais 1, 2 and 3 are mainly residential sections, they are dotted with a number of schools (public and private) and colleges. Some of the schools in the Education Zone are Apple International School, The Millennium School, Dubai Scholars Private School, Sheffield Private School, Crescent English High School, Dubai Women’s College, Oscar Educational Institute, The Westminster School, Pristine Private School, and many others. Emirates Driving Institute and Galadari Motor Driving Centre are also located in Al Qusais.

Five metro stations on the Green Line ply the Al Qusais area, namely Stadium, Al Nahda, Al Qusais, DAFZA and Etisalat. Aside from the Al Mulla Plaza and Madina Mall which provide retail shopping conveniences, there is also the Lulu Hypermarket and Union Cooperative. Zulekha Hospital, NMC Specialty Hospital and a number of clinics can be found in the area as well as numerous restaurants and hotels.

Parks and recreational facilities in Al Qusais include the Al Ahli Club, Al Qusais 1 Park, the Al Nahda Pond Park, Al Qusais 2 Park and the Al Qusais Pond Park. The massive Al Qusais Industrial Area itself comprises five sections, and is located very close to Sharjah’s own industrial area.

So, there really is so much more to Qusais than just relatively lower residential rents.
