A quaint getaway in the heart of the city

The Lakes is part of the Emirates Living development conveniently located close to Shaikh Zayed and Al Khail Roads, which translates to the community being well connected to the city centre.

Comprising hundreds of villas and townhouses in a wide variety of sizes, The Lakes is divided into six neighbourhoods: Furat, Zulal, Deema, Maeen, Rayaan and Ghadeer.

The detached villas and townhouses are set in landscaped common areas interspersed with parks, children’s playgrounds, barbecue areas and water features like swimming pools and lakes.

Aside from the community’s easy links to the major roads, another advantage of living in The Lakes is having access to the Lakes Club, a community centre which houses sports and fitness facilities such as a gymnasium, aerobics studio, swimming pool, and volleyball, squash and tennis courts. The club also has a convenience store, restaurants and a daycare centre.

Picturesque water bodies, well-manicured gardens and landscaped greenery are big treats for The Lakes residents. Well-planned walkways also ensure easy access to the different community facilities.

Couple Casper Tribler and Houda Naji decided to make The Lakes their home seven years ago when they moved out from Al Barsha.

Casper is a CEO in a multinational firm, while Houda is a managing director in a digital media agency.

The Tribler family lives in a four-bedroom townhouse at Zulal.

The development’s beautiful community feel and its proximity to schools and nurseries were amongst the major factors that lured the family to the area.

Houda says she is absolutely in love with The Lakes. She reckons that the family is not moving out of the community as long as they are in Dubai.

“Moving to The Lakes was one of the best decisions we made while living in Dubai. We chose a house located in front of a park so my daughters Sofia and Julia can play there with other children their age every afternoon. They have lots of friends around the community, which makes my life as a working mother easier.

“Also, we chose this location for its proximity to the schools we wanted for our children. So, we bicycle to school every day. Where else can you do that in Dubai? There are no traffic jams or stressful mornings looking for a parking area near the school,” Houda says.

Houda narrates that their lifestyle has become much more active as they have two dogs which they walk around the lakes and the children can play outdoors anytime.

The place’s proximity to malls and to the couple’s workplaces at Dubai Internet City is an additional convenience factor for the couple.

So, how do they see the community as a whole?

Houda says, “As soon as you enter The Lakes, you immediately feel at home, with all the green spaces, the lakes and the trees. It is a quaint getaway located in the heart of the city yet away from its hustle and bustle.

“With cleaners and gardeners doing their daily rounds, good maintenance is another positive factor. There is hardly anything to be unhappy about in the Lakes. We love it here and we have no intentions of moving as long as we are still working in Dubai,” Houda concludes.
