Dubai Silicon Oasis: Peaceful oasis removed from city chaos

If peace and calm feature high on your list of preferences, then look no farther than Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO).

As the name indicates, it is a hub of tranquility as it is removed from the city centre.

With reputed developments like Dubailand and Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) just a few minutes away and with quick access to the Dubai International Airport, this community ensures peaceful living far from the traffic and chaos of the main city.

A true symbol of integrated living, DSO encompasses a wide range of residential, commercial and industrial offerings. It is well-supported by modern infrastructure and public facilities.

Dr Geetanjali Ramesh Chandra, who has a doctorate in law and a Professor at Amity University in DIAC, resides in a single bedroom apartment in DSO.

Geetanjali says she misses the buzz around her earlier place of residence in Al Barsha, but for the past three years that she has been living in DSO, she can safely reckon that if comfortable lifestyle is the prime consideration when searching for a place to stay in Dubai, DSO ticks all the right boxes for all the right reasons.

Being an ardent peace lover, Geetanjali says she appreciates the tranquil surroundings of the area.

In addition, choosing to adopt an active lifestyle is what she attributes as a positive amendment to her life since she moved to the area.

She credits her building and the entire development for providing the residents with modern sports and fitness facilities.

She says her building of¬fers a swimming pool, gym, squash and tennis courts, table tennis area and space for jogging.

For Geetanjali, the big¬gest advantage of living in DSO is that it lies in prox¬imity to her workplace, which is merely a three- minute drive.

Commenting upon DSO in general, Geetanjali says, “Living in DSO means living in a different world altogether.

“A peaceful locality featuring a comfortable and secure lifestyle, it is removed from the main part of the city; however, it is not more than a 20-minute drive away from prime locations.”

Geetanjali narrates that the whole community is clean, and with the population composed of people from diverse nationalities, cultures and backgrounds, it is nothing short of a world-class community.

Although not situated in the centre of the city, DSO, however, has a flurry of shopping destinations close to it.

Malls such as Dubai Outlet Mall, Arabian Centre, Etihad Mall and Dragon Mart all facilitate easy shopping and entertainment for the residents.

DSO is a well-served locality with a host of amenities that ranges from shops, supermarkets, retail outlets, banks, post office, restaurants, cafes, health clinic, community centres, nursery and schools, among others.

The only disadvantage of living in DSO is its poor connectivity to the Metro, with the nearest metro station located in Rashidiya, which is approximately 16 kilometres away.

Some residents also complain of inadequate or irregular bus service to the area.

Geetanjali concludes, “The locality is ideal for those who seek peace and quiet, but it would definitely benefit from a well-connected metro station and ample bus service.”
