“It is like living in a seven-star resort!” exclaims Naresh Kaundal, a resident of Al Muneera, part of the Al Raha Beach development in Abu Dhabi, for the past four years.
Naresh is quick to add that the area feels like a veritable waterfront paradise. “One is treated to crystal clear waters on one side, and canal views and beautiful architectural masterpieces on the other side,” he says.
Naresh works as Planning Manager at EC Harris, while his wife Vandana works as a Legal Assistant at British Petroleum. The couple’s eldest daughter, Bhavya, studies in a university in India, while their twin daughters Shreya and Tanya are students at the International School of Choueifat in Abu Dhabi.
“We bought this property directly from the main developer in 2008. The principal reasons for choosing this were its amenities and its being located in the waterfront,” says Naresh.
He adds, “Waterfront developments always provide value, are in great demand and are in prominent locations. Surrounded by two beautiful communities Al Bandar and Al Zeina, Al Muneera is, by all means, a waterfront haven.”
Used to be residents of Najda Street in downtown Abu Dhabi, the Kaundal family was awed by the interesting mix of conveniences and amenities at Al Muneera – private beach, seaplane, kayaking activities, swimming pool, gym, steam and sauna, children’s play areas, walkways, cycling tracks, retail shops, restaurants, hypermarket and basement car parking.
The family reckons that Al Muneera is one of the best residential areas in Abu Dhabi. They enjoy stun-ning sea and canal views, and partial views of the Abu Dhabi city high-rises from their balcony. The area is also transformed into a celebratory wonderland with an amazing festival feel during huge events like Formula 1.
With their shift to the community, the family says they have witnessed a radical change in their lifestyle.
“The community offers a modern lifestyle backdropped by a beautiful landscape. It is like the entire family experienced a 360-degree turn. Back in downtown, it was almost impossible for us to take our kids cycling because it meant stepping out from the building lobby to internal roads and then heading for the Corniche, where parking was another major challenge. Al Muneera offers cycling tracks, so cycling is a piece of cake now,” narrates Naresh.
He adds that the area is conveniently located as his office is just ten minutes away while Vandana’s is barely a 20-minute drive.
Another advantage of living in Al Muneera is that it enjoys superb accessibility to the Abu Dhabi International Airport and recreation and shopping destination Yas Island, where Yas Mall, Yas Water World, Ferrari World and Yas Marina Circuit are located.
Al Muneera also provides clear access to the Abu Dhabi-Dubai expressway in both directions. The Abu Dhabi city centre is barely a 20-minute drive away.
Naresh reckons that Al Muneera has its share of cons, but that every community, whether old or new, always has scope for improvement. He says that the sounds of jet skis are a major source of disturbance, parking proves to be expensive for visitors and the community could benefit from improved signage in retail areas.
“Notwithstanding these minor issues, we can say that we are fully satisfied and are enjoying our stay here,” concludes Naresh.
