New office buildings are set to alter the skyline of the free zones in the UAE as the trading hubs look to meet the rising demand of office space. There has been an increasing demand for space from entrepreneurs looking to conduct business from the free zones because of their flexible norms in ownership and employment.

The Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority has completed the construction of the first phase of the Jafza One Convention Centre. The complex consisting of two 34-storey towers will provide 10,000 square meters of office space. It is set to be leased from the end of this year. The convention center also features a four-star hotel, an auditorium, an exhibition hall and conference rooms.

Al Barsha South is the location for the DuBiotech headquarters featuring two high-rise towers. It is estimated that around 46,500 square meters of office space will be available when this building is ready next year. DuBiotech and EnPark, Dubai-based free zones catering to life sciences, environment and alternate energy sectors, have witnessed impressive growth in recent times with 29 new companies registered in the first six months of 2014.

Two new office buildings at the center of Dubai Media City and Dubai Internet City will be unveiled by the end of 2015. Named Butterfly, this project, on completion, will add around 23,700 square meters of office space along with an outdoor plaza.

The International Media Production Zone (IMPZ) will have two new developments to boast of. Publishing Pavilion, a nine-storey structure catering to media houses, is expected to be handed over by the end of the year. Makateb, a multi-building development comprising two four-storey towers and two seven-storey towers, is slated for completion by the first quarter of 2015.
