Connecting the East to the West, Dubai is a major hub for all warehousing and logistics operations in the region. With a number of state-of-the-art seaports and airports set up in the country, the movement of cargo has become faster and convenient.
Trading, considered as the major business activity in the region resulting in substantial economic output, makes it vital to have access to good warehousing and logistics opportunities necessary for the growth of business.
With a number of free trade zones set up in the emirate, Jebel Ali Free Zone being the oldest and biggest in the country, major global logistics companies have their Middle East headquarters set up within it. Warehouses in Jebel Ali could either be owned or taken on lease for a short or longer period. Jebel Ali along with the Dubai Aviation City Corporation gave birth to one of the world's largest multi-modal logistics platforms, having opened up to massive expansion in trade and given way to diverse methods of import and export.
Another milestone was the inception of Al Maktoum International Airport at the Dubai World Central (DWC) which once again gave a big boost to the warehousing, freight forwarding and logistics segments. Due to these developments, today the area has land for about 400,000 sq.m. of office space and 1,000,000 sq.m. of space for warehouses, while leaving more for onsite residential units.
Strategically situated close to the Jebel Ali Port, the Dubai Investments Park (DIP), divided into three diverse zones, not only offers warehousing facilities and logistics solutions, but also gives opportunities to companies to have their own customized warehouses, easing the flow of goods.
With the phenomenal development in the warehousing and logistics sectors, Dubai has indeed become the center for the seamless transportation of goods, be it through sea, air or land.
