An emblem representing Dubai's rapid development, growth and success, the Palm Jumeirah is a cluster of man-made islands extending into the Arabian Gulf. Developed and constructed at approximately the size of 800 football pitches, Palm Jumeirah is considered the largest man-made island in the world.
The Palm Jumeirah islands are linked by a primary trunk that joins them to the coast. The main crown consists of 16 branches with a crescent island that is part of a breakwater that spans 11 kilometers.
The ''trunk and branches'' part are a mix of high-end residential areas that include beachfront properties, waterfront apartments and villas. The most renowned feature is the five-star themed aqua hotel, The Atlantis.
There are several exciting retail and commercial projects in the pipeline for Palm Jumeirah. One is The Pointe, a 136,000-square meter retail and entertainment complex. The project plans to showcase 84 townhouses as well as a 608,000 square foot recreational community on the waterfront. The project plans to include more than 200 retail outlets encompassing entertainment, dining and shopping activities.
The Boardwalk is an exciting project showcasing the crescent part of the Palm Jumeirah. The 11-kilometer project aims to become the area's go-to destination for dining, shopping and walking; it will include a 100-meter pier to be divided into the East and West.
Another project in the pipeline is Nakheel Mall, a 418,000-square meter retail, dining and entertainment complex. Planned to be built at the northern end of the island's trunk, it will include 4,000 parking bays, 200 retail outlets, an extensive state-of-the-art cinema as well as medical clinics.
• The Pointe is planned on the pinnacle of the Palm Jumeirah
• Area hotels include One & Only, The Palm, Rixos and Atlantis
