Nakheel has started leasing around 1.3 million sq ft of newretail space in its Dragon City mixed-use community. The development adds more than 1,100 new shops, restaurants, cafés and entertainment facilities to the existing complex, which already has 3,500 outlets as the world’s biggest Chinese trading hub outside mainland China.

Dragon Mart, which attracts around 65,000 visitors daily, is being transformed into a giant retail, residential and leisure hub called Dragon City, says Nakheel. Endorsed by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, it will span 11 million sq ft in built-up area when complete. The newly available retail space is equivalent to 17 football pitches and includes a new mall with car park and a separate showroom-style complex. Space is also available in and around Dragon Towers — twin residences with 1,120 apartments.
